Hiking in Scheffau

 

If you want to go hiking with your family or friends or you would like to come along with our guide in a group, it does not matter, the goal is the same! To enjoy the mountains!

And there are lots of routes to take. The Wilder Kaiser mountains have such beauty that it takes your breath away. On days like this there’s only one thing for it; Rucksack is packed; walking boots are laced up, then let’s go!!!

Scheffau Dorf - Rehbachklamm - Hintersteinersee

From the village you walk along the road to the Hintersteinersee lake. Before the bridge take the footpath to the right and follow the Rehbach- stream. At the end turn left and take the road following the signs "Hintersteinersee", passing the Gasthof Bärnstatt and also the chapel of "St. Leonhard".

Around the Hintersteinersee- Lake

Beginning at the "Seestüberl" car park follow the road along the lake to the Pension Maier, just before the Pension turn to left and follow the signs "Seerundweg". On the north-side of the lake you have a small footpath with a few steps back to the "Seestüberl".

Hintersteinersee - Walleralm

From Pension Maier follow the forest road up to the Walleralm. Or from the Seestüberl on a narrow footpath a little bit steep at the beginning and later along a road through the forest, then again on a narrow footpath to the Walleralm.

Niederalm Route

From the village in the direction of “Jagerwirt” and further on to the Wegsheid Niederalm,and then onto the Kaiseralm, Kaiser Niederalm and Hinterschiesslingeralm. From here across to the Steiner Niederalm and then leisurely back down to the village

Hochalm Route

From the village in the direction of “Jagerwirt” and to the Wegscheid Niederalm and then the Wegscheid Hochalm, further on up to the Wilder Kaiser steig and across to the Kaiser Hochalm and Steiner Hochalm. From here you can carry on to the Walleralm or down to Hintersteinersee. For Hintersteinersee follow the signs down for Gasthof Bärnstatt
